Salary:  £55,000 to £65,000 p.a. + superb benefits

Global research and publications company in Central London require experienced Customer Data & Insights Manager to be responsible for helping the business use and understand customer data in order to further business objectives, while being accountable for adherence to data protection legislation.


The Customer Data & Insights Manager will identify opportunities for the business that will drive revenue, develop products, improve experiences or engage new customers. You will also implement extracts, reports, tools and solutions that help the business exploit these opportunities, as well as support current business requests and provide direction to an agency team supporting these requests, whilst contributing business requirements to data projects to ensure that these tools meet the company’s Customer Data & Insights needs.



  • Work cross-functionally with stakeholders across the organisation to determine their Customer Data needs.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage our data for profitable outcomes, and drive uptake of these within the business.
  • Evangelise throughout the organisation about the opportunities and responsibilities of using Customer Data.
  • Define and implement the necessary Data processes and strategy, incorporating data protection requirements.
  • Direct a team of agency staff, providing data extraction services to the business.
  • Be responsible for the timely delivery of quality, actionable insights that will help key stakeholders achieve profitable growth and exploit new opportunities.

Business intelligence & Insights responsibilities:-

  • Lead the design and implementation of Customer Data analytical and insights projects, in order to improve understanding of key business dynamics.
  • Provide decision makers throughout the organisation with insightful data in the appropriate format to drive sound business decisions that will help us grow our business and profitability.
  • Discover new opportunities to optimize our business through analytics, insights and statistical modelling.

Reporting & Data extracts responsibilities:-

  • Work with business owners: to identify Customer Data information needs and develop or provide reporting and deep analysis.
  • Partner with the Marketing Analytics teams to deliver a stable and highly available reporting platform, which provides the right level of self-service and data visibility to all stakeholders.

Team management responsibilities:-

  • Supervise Data Extraction team and ensure that team meets the reporting and analytical needs of the business users.
  • Ensure that the Agency are delivering the service expected of them, including meeting any SLAs.

Project contributions:-

  • Oversee all aspects of Customer Data analytics and business intelligence projects, with clearly defined project scope and schedules and accurate and timely communication to stakeholders, and management.
  • Provide business case and requirements input to Customer Data projects and teams.
  • Provide input and expertise to other projects where Customer Data is used or acquired.

Customer Data guidance & Data protection responsibilities:-

  • Provide leadership on development on guidance and approach to how Customer Data can and cannot be used, including data acquisition.
  • To develop guidance and processes on how Business Users interact with the team.
  • To be the custodian within the group on Data Protection and to ensure that tools, processes, and stakeholders, understand and comply with legislation.

Functional and Technical Competencies:

  • Determine segmentation.
  • Understand the customer and path to purchase.
  • Enable reporting measurement and analytics.
  • Utilize analysis for business advantage.
  • Define the target.


Skills and Experience Required:

  • Degree in Computer Science or Statistics or related IT field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ years experience in Business Intelligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret business needs and requests into data insights.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify data insights, and use these to enact positive change.
  • Experience of information delivery including BI reporting, operational reporting, KPI’s, visualization tools like QlikView or Tableau etc.
  • Knowledge of data protection legislation and implementation
  • Strong ability to inspire and motivate self and others
  • Experience of successfully leading projects, incorporating implementation methodology from concept to production
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and connect with others in collaborative teams
