Fantastic opportunity for experienced Design Manager to join this award winning international ecommerce company with over 10 years proven success in their field, where you will have responsibility for managing 3 designers to produce end to end website design, CRM and offline design projects; working in collaboration with eCommerce, CRM, Content, Product and Development teams to ensure that design plans are achieved.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background of both hands-on online and offline design, with strong technical knowledge, 5+ years in the e-Commerce / Marketing industry with a proven track record of management, planning, testing and implementation of e-Commerce best practices in a fast moving, results-oriented retail business.

The Design Manager reports into the Head of Ecommerce and will have end to end responsibility of website design, CRM and offline design as well as management of the design team (currently three FTEs). You will need to be proficient in front-end web technologies, including HTML, CSS, Javascript and JQuery; have superb communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a user-focused design mentality, confident leading and building a dynamic design team.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for managing the front-end user experience & content schedule for our UK business, working closely with Web Trading & wider E-Commerce team to provide creative marketing design and responsive web assets for ongoing campaigns
  • Responsible for working closely with the CRM team to deliver the email marketing strategy and optimizing email newsletter and trigger campaign layouts for conversion
  • Managing the development of UI style guides and brand guidelines for the company’s brands
  • Ensuring marketing campaigns for all channels are optimised and delivered for both mobile and desktop devices
  • Implementing and updating processes to ensure efficient & smooth on-time delivery of marketing campaigns and additional user content
  • Overseeing and contributing to the designing, coding & implementation of all campaign changes and promotional pages
  • Working closely with the Product Design team to ensure optimal & consistent user experience
  • Direct and oversee the work of an in-house team of designers, (and at times) freelancers, and external agencies to ensure they work within specifications, helping to develop their skills
  • Ensuring strong development of the design team, coaching and mentoring as required
  • End-to-end design & front-end coding for landing pages, microsites, email newsletters, affiliate/PPC banners
  • Manage supporting the Retail team with artworking for our range of gift box products and merchandising / POS materials
  • Handling design queries from the wider business and advising / fulfilling need accordingly

Essential Skill Required:

  • At least 5 years experience in a digital design role with a focus on B2C.
  • Proficiency in managing the front end user experience and content schedule for the design project plans.
  • Proficiency in front-end web technologies, including HTML, CSS, Javascript and JQuery.
  • Excellent knowledge of Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign.
  • Good knowledge of Bootstrap framework.
  • Prior commercial experience in a similar role for an Ecommerce based business / transactional websites.
  • User-focused mindset – strong understanding of UX/UI best practice
  • Management experience – providing constructive feedback and development for design teams

Salary: £45,000 to £50,000 p.a.
